Daily sketchbook dump July 2-10

My first sketchbook actually ran out on the 7th, so I've got a new one now - hardcover, which means it's a bit trickier to scan, but on the other hand I get enough performance anxiety that I absolutely refuse to waste paper on halfhearted sketches. In the long run, I guess that's a good thing.

Daily sketchbook dump June 21-July 1

Back again from Gotland, and dying from the heat, here's my collection of sketches from June 21st onwards. Some from life, some not.

Daily Sketchbook dump June 12-20

Two-pages-daily dump, picking out the best ones. There are ups and downs, obviously.

Some of these are referenced off photographs, some from life (the hands, most noticeably).

Working on the big, digital painting version of this:

Speedpaint

Disney's Tangled was awesome. I loved the lantern-scene. Yeah.

Gotland sketchdump, v. 23

Okay, so. Gotland is awesome (and hot as hell) and fun (and hot as hell) and exhausting (and hot as hell).

One of the homework assignments for the Lifedrawing course is two pages daily in our sketchbook, of anything we want. So I've been drawing like crazy for the last week. Here are some of the best ones (as in, the ones that weren't eaten by my scanner).

Some from life, some imaginary, some comic layouts, some cover sketches, etc., etc.

Shaun Tan is the man

Yeah. Went to see the ALMA-winner speech, and got some stuff signed afterwards - I drew a picture of Shaun Tan's water-buffalo and gave to him, and he made me this. :D I'm ridiculously proud to own this.
