Barton

... Because Barton is the most wonderfully adorable character in a cast full of equally charming characters in Professor Layton.

Watercolour dump

Been playing with my watercolours today, because I just finished inking a page of Fathoms, and needed to play with colours, and didn't want to get distracted by the internet.

So I fired up the fantastic audiobook version of Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot. Which is mindblowing, but that's not what this post is about.

Since I've been sort of absentmindedly brainstorming (while at the same time focusing on other projects - yay for multitasking!), I decided to work out a design for Owlsong's main character as a child. This is it. Some parts of the comic are going to take place in her childhood, so I need to know what she looks like.

Carl Sagan is squarely to blame for this one - well, him, and the fact that I've been thinking about these characters lately. One day, I'm going to actually draw the golem-comic for real. For now, this will have to suffice - a messy, off-colour watercolour study of what is one day going to be an acrylic painting. ... Which will probably not look anything like this.

Dump

Stuff other than Fathoms of the Sky-WIPs:

Sketch for one of the pages of a Bonebird comic that I'm doing for the small Swedish anthology Comic Royale #5.

WIP of a fanart-piece for one of the greatest game series in existence - Professor Layton. Closely competing with Phoenix Wright for my favourite DS-series.

Fathoms

I realised while inking the pages of Fathoms of the Sky (which is going rather well) that my main character spends all twenty-four pages looking either confused, scared or really pissed off - so here's a picture of her looking happy.

Comic WIPS

Here's a work-in-progress image of one of the pages I'm currently working on:

Last panel is obviously unfinished, and there's some details missing in the other panels (as well as some digital editing needed in the first panel; I'm not entirely happy with the cross-hatching).

Brush-pens are fun.

Sketch-dumpery

So. Yeah. Stuff I've done lately.

Ink-tests for my comic for the parts that take place under water. A bit scribbly and half-assed, but I'm sort of getting to where I want to be with them.

Also, lighthouse-girl - who still needs a name. I think I'll have to consult my atlas to hunt for appropriately sea-worthy names.

And last but not least - Ichinose, looking typically grouchy. It's his ground state of being.

Currently working on....

This:

There will be a character in there as well, and a lot more stuff on shelves and floors and whatnot - and it will obviously be in colour.

I need to practise perspective and backgrounds in general (as in, actually having them, because I tend to be terribly lazy), so I thought this might be a good start
